Studies show that ConOxid™
increases the production of the bodyís own antioxidants, catalase,
glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase and superoxide dismutase.
These antioxidant enzymes capture the free radical initially then
transfer it to other antioxidants such as vitamins C and E.
In other words the antioxidant activity of many supplements such
as vitamins is dependent upon the bodies enzymatic antioxidants
to function. ConOxid™ is unique in its capability to increase
the bodyís production of these essential antioxidant enzymes which
suggests why its effectiveness is so significant.

Antioxidant
Deficiency
Study after study have shown that oxidative damage, antioxidant deficiency
and lipid peroxidation play a significant role in the development of
microvascular pathology in individuals with unhealthy blood glucose
levels. Free radicals and oxidants are toxic. They damage cells and
often alter normal function. They can reduce membrane integrity, alter
structural proteins and enzymes and cause lipid peroxidation leading
to inflammatory changes that can accelerate pathologies associated with
elevated blood glucose and unhealthy cholesterol.
Oxidative
Damage
Oxidative damage results from increased numbers of reactive oxygen species
and/or decreased efficiency of inhibitory or scavenging systems. Once
tissue damage or cell death occurs it amplifies the numbers of reactive
oxygen species (free radicals) resulting in amplification of damage
to tissues and cells and a depletion of antioxidants.
Drs Shanmugasundaram have conducted extensive research to further understand
the role oxidative damage plays in the development of complications
and determine ways of reducing or preventing this damage. They have
found that Amrita Bindu, marketed as ConOxid, significantly decreases
the risk of oxidative damage and lipid peroxidation by increasing the
production of enzymatic antioxidants. Antioxidant enzymes found to be
increased are catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase
and glutathione reductase. These molecules initially capture the free
radical or oxidant and then hand it off to other molecules such as vitamins
C, E and glutathione. These vitamins are dependent upon the enzymatic
antioxidants for their own antioxidant activity. ConOxid is uniquely
capable of increasing the levels of these enzymesóshown in publications
cited on the PharmaTerra web site.
