PharmaTerra, Inc. was founded by practicing physicians and chemists who specialize in the application and development of biologically active natural products. PharmaTerra believes that natural products will play a significant role in promoting health in the future. The heart of our research and product development team are the Drs. Shanmugasundaram who are recognized as being among the foremost experts in the world regarding natural products that are effective in combating oxidative damage.
Dr. Shanmugasundaram is currently and has been since 1984 director of ERBS Herbal Research Foundation in Madras, India. Dr. Shanmugasundaram has a distinguished career as a biochemist and held senior faculty positions at the University of Madras, Madras, India, including Senior Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry from 1976 until 1984. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chemistry, London, and is author of many scientific publications in Indian and foreign journals. His research interests include ischemic heart disease and diabetes.
Dr. Shanmugasundaram, a distinguished biochemist, is currently Senior Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Madras, Madras, India. Dr. Shanmugasundaram is author of over one hundred scientific papers. Dr. Shanmugasundaram is an Associate of the Royal Institute of Chemistry, London, as well as a member of the New York Academy of Sciences. Her major fields of interest include diabetes and ischemic heart disease as well as antioxidant and enzyme changes in experimental and disease states, scientific evaluation of traditional medicine and proteins and trace elements in the diet.
